Your library card works at all 19 locations as well as for our digital collections.

Online Self-Registration

You can register for a library card online and access our digital services without visiting a physical location. To qualify for online self-registration, you must:

Not currently have a Genesee District Library card, nor have signed up for a card in the past.
Live in Genesee County, but outside of the city of Flint. (Digital services for the city of Flint are provided by the Flint Public Library, and you can sign up to use their services online at www.fpl.info).
Be 18 years of age or older.

If you cannot find your card, or if your card is expired, you need to visit or call your local branch of the Genesee District Library, which you can find by clicking here.

Online Library Card Registration is currently down. Please visit a branch to sign up for a library card.

In-Person Registration

Just download an application for a library card, fill it out and take it to any branch of the Genesee District Library.

Book Club Bag of Books: for adult book groups

Homebound Registration Form: for people needing to receive materials at home. Register by calling (810) 732-1120 or download the application and send it to: Genesee District Library, Homebound Service, 4195 W. Pasadena Avenue, Flint, MI 48504.

Eligibility For Patrons Outside of the Genesee District Library Service Area

City of Flint residents and residents outside of the Genesee District Library service area may also have the option of getting a free GDL card to check out physical items and use computers. Additionally, they have the option of paying for digital services for $10/month or $100/year.

Anyone outside GDL’s service area may purchase a non-resident card. Non-resident cards permit the holder to use all GDL materials and services with the exception of MeLCat. A non-resident card may be purchased for $10/month or $100/year.
